Designing the AdInMo developer’s portal with users and usability as our focus
We recently redesigned the AdInMo developer portal to make it easier and smarter to place InGamePlay brand ads in your mobile games. The portal was designed with our users and usability firmly at the centre of our process as part of our ongoing commitment to make AdInMo’s platform accessible and inclusive.
There are tons of reasons why usability is important but it pretty much boils down to this…
“Everyone should be able to play mobile games and anyone should be able to make them.”
There are of course various accessibility guidelines and regulations around the world to ensure that web sites and services are accessible to all. A huge proportion of people have visual impairments of different types and something as seemingly simple as red/green colour blindness can vastly affect a person’s interpretation of information or options on a web site. Globally, approximately 1 in 12 men (8%) and 1 in 200 women have color vision deficiencies according to the World Wide Web Consortium
AdInMo’s UX team follows a user-centric design process which means we regularly engage with our users to better understand their requirements – more on this in a bit!
We also strive to adhere to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines ( WCAG). This means our developer portal affords keyboard navigation while browsing the site or interacting with it though screen readers. We follow WCAG’s defined colour contrast ratios so that more visually impaired people can fully understand the information on our platform. We employ techniques like redundancy – e.g. ensuring colour alone never conveys information but will be presented along with a label, number or icon for clarity.

AdInMo’s platform team regularly engages with our developer community via the beta testing programme and this includes improving usability. This process keeps us laser focussed on providing an inclusive and usable experience for everyone.
If you’d like to take part in a future usability test to help us develop future tools and features for our platform, please email us and the UX team will get in touch to schedule a one-on-one test call. User tests typically involve a 15minute video call and generate anonymous data that informs our design teams.
Your contributions are hugely important to us. Let’s all make sure that everyone can play and create games. Together.
